Extraordinary Heroes of Public Service at Public Library Brown Bag Chat

June 22, 2015 1:25 AM

By MVOhio.net News Staff

“Extraordinary Heroes of Public Service” featuring the Knox County Sheriff Department will be the topic of the Escape the Ordinary Adult Summer Reading Program Brown Bag Chat, Wednesday, June 24 at noon at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, which is located at 201 N. Mulberry Street.

Some call it a duty, some call it a calling---but all can be called heroes who look out for the safety and security of our community every day.

Join spokesperson Captain Jay Sheffer from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department for an insider’s look at the duties of an officer, how crimes are investigated and laws are enforced, just what the future may hold for law enforcement in light of national events, and how the community can become more involved.

A question and answer session will follow.

The program is free and open to the public of all ages. Refreshments served or feel free to bring your own bag lunch.

Participants are encouraged to sign up for the Escape the Ordinary Adult Summer Reading Program to be eligible for weekly and grand prizes.

For more information, call the main library at 740-392-BOOK (2665) Ext. 243, visit www.knox.net or email communityrelations@knox.net.
