Thefts from Vehicles

By Rachel Peachey

October 12, 2015 - 11:28 AM

MOUNT VERNON - Over the past week, ten thefts from vehicles were reported.  Seven occurred between Tuesday October 6th and Wednesday October 7th.  Five of the ten thefts occurred in Mount Vernon and the others occurred in Centerburg, Danville and Fredericktown.  A variety of items were stolen including wallets purses, loose change and cell phone chargers.

All complainants reported that their vehicles were unlocked at the time of the theft.  Some complainants reported that various vehicles had been entered on their property, but items were only removed from one or some of the vehicles. No damage was reported to any of the vehicles. Most of the break-ins occurred overnight.

It's advisable to use precaution and avoid leaving valuables in a vehicle, especially overnight.
