MOUNT VERNON - The Wilbur Gaunder Nursing Scholarship of $1,000 has been awarded by the Future Nurses Club of Knox Community Hospital to Miranda Pruitt, a Senior at Mount Vernon High School.

Miranda has been accepted at Ashland University and intends to pursue a career in healthcare.  She participated in the Future Nurses Club for one year.

The Future Nurses Club Scholarship was created by the Future Nurses Club of Knox County and a family donation through The Foundation for Knox Community Hospital. These funds are designated to encourage and assist qualified individuals to pursue a nursing career. This scholarship can only be applied towards tuition and fees and will be paid directly to the nursing program. The minimum scholarship amount awarded is $500.

Over 25 nurses volunteer their time and talent to provide educational and fun activities to encourage high school students to consider a career in nursing.  Founded in 2006, the Future Nurses Club offers information on the nursing profession to high school students, their parents and guidance counselors.  If you are a high school student, considering a career in nursing, learn more about it by calling Luann Hess, at 740 393 9606.
