Mount Vernon Police Department Reports from 4/18

Dustin Palms, 18, of Mount Vernon was cited for assured clear distance ahead.


At approximately 8:55 AM, an officer responded o the 100 block of N. Sandusky St. in reference to found property. Two cassette tapes, a green Crown Royal bag, and a plastic bag were reported found.

An officer responded to the 600 block of E. Gambier St. on an animal bite call. Photographs and a written statement were taken from the victim and the victim was treated at the scene and released. The Knox County Animal shelter was informed and responded. The report was forwarded to the Knox County Dog Warden.

An officer responded to the 200 block of E. Vine St. on a report of a theft. The complainant stated that items were taken from her back porch. Reported stolen were a fan and pottery items. Photographs and a written statement were taken.

Officers were dispatched to the scene of an activated business alarm on S. Gay St. Officers found a window unsecured on one side of the building. A keyholder responded. Officers entered the business and did not find anything out of place or missing. The window was secured by the keyholder and the alarm was reset. 


A 1994 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Dustin Palms, of Mount Vernon, and a 2004 Saturn Ion, operated by Ashley Compton, were both southbound on S. Main St. Palms' vehicle stopped or slowed for traffic and was struck in the rear by Compton's vehicle.

A 2002 Dodge Dakota, operated by Jeffery D. Wilson, of Millersburg was traveling northbound on S. Main St. and while attempting to travel east onto Phillips Dr., came into contact with a 2016 Ford Escape, operated by Gregory A. Keener, of Danville. South Main St. has two lanes and both Merge onto Phillips Dr., or the North lane can continue on S. Main St. Keener's vehicle was also traveling northbound on S. Main St. and attempting to travel east onto Phillips Dr.
