MOUNT VERNON –
Eight defendants were sentenced today by Judge Otho Eyster in the Knox County
Court of Common Pleas.
Jerrie L. Hyatt,
34, of Fredericktown was sentenced for Receiving Stolen Property and Forgery,
both felonies of the fifth degree. Hyatt used stolen checks to purchase items
at Fast Freddies and Pizza Dock. Hyatt was ordered to 90 days in jail, and to
pay restitution in the amount of $87.59. She will also serve three years of
community control, must submit to a drug and alcohol assessment and drug and
alcohol use monitoring as well as a mental health evaluation.
Caleb Vernon, 29,
of Mount Vernon was resentenced on three counts of Aggravated Possession of
Drugs, all fifth-degree felonies, after testing positive for drugs and
violating his community control. Vernon was ordered to serve 60 days in jail on
each count concurrently and will be terminated unsuccessfully from the
community control program upon release from jail.
Michael Daley, 20,
of Danville was sentenced for Failure to Provide Change of Address, a
fourth-degree felony. Daley was sentenced to 15 months in prison and ordered to
pay court costs.
Joy Strohl, 33, of
Mount Vernon, was sentenced for Having Weapons Under Disability, a third degree
felony and resentenced on a 2013 case for Attempted Burglary and three counts
of Theft from an Elderly Person after violating the terms of her community control.
Strohl will serve 30 months in prison on the weapons charge, 17 months for the
Attempted Burglary, and 11 months on each count of Theft, all concurrently. She
was also ordered to pay court costs and restitution in the amount of $299.95.
Donald M. Ferrell,
34, of Charleston, West Virginia was sentenced for Receiving Stolen Property, a
fifth-degree felony. Ferrell was found driving a 2005 Buick Century that was
reported stolen in West Virginia. Ferrell was ordered to serve 60 days in jail
and three years of community control with 17 months of prison time suspended.
Shawn T. Price,
30, of Mount Vernon was sentenced for Receiving Stolen Property and Breaking
and Entering, both fifth-degree felonies. Price was placed on three years of
community control with 11 months of prison on each count suspended. He must
also submit to a drug and alcohol assessment and drug and alcohol use
monitoring and enter the VOA program in Mansfield. Price was also ordered to
pay restitution in the amount of $864.50.
Clyde R. Robertson,
28, of Mount Vernon was sentenced for Gross Sexual Imposition, a fourth-degree
felony. Robertson will serve 60 days in jail and was placed on three years of
community control. He was also ordered to pay court costs and have a mental
health evaluation completed. Seventeen months of prison time have been
Terry Stewart, 49,
of Howard was sentenced for Disseminating Matter Harmful to Juveniles, a felony
of the fifth-degree. Stewart will serve 180 days in jail with 11 months in
prison suspended. He was also placed on three years of community control, must
submit to a drug and alcohol assessment, drug and alcohol use monitoring, a
mental health evaluation and maintain full time employment.
