Community Foundation Scholarship Application Now Available

January 19, 2016 - 10:36 AM

MOUNT VERNON - The Universal Scholarship Application for both traditional and non-traditional students is now available on the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon & Knox County website www.mvkcfoundation.org. The 2016 submission deadline is March 1, and all scholarship announcements will be made in May.

Traditional students include those who are enrolled, or will enroll, in college within two years of their high school graduation. Non-traditional students generally are adults retraining for an alternate career, or those enrolling in post-secondary studies for the first time.

The Community Foundation awards more than $600,000 per year in scholarship assistance. While the majority of scholarships are need-based, requiring submission of the F.A.F.S.A. Student Aid Report, several Community Foundation scholarships are merit-based only and do not require applicants to provide family financial information. The application for Community Foundation scholarships is easily downloaded and completed on-screen before printing for signature and submission.

Graduating high school students submit their applications by the deadline to their respective guidance counselors. Home-schooled students, students already in college and all non-traditional applicants submit their application directly to the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon & Knox County, One South Main Street, P.O. Box 1270, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.

For further information, please contact Sam Barone, Executive Director, Community Foundation of Mount Vernon & Knox County at 392-3270 or by email at sbarone@mvkcfoundation.org.
