Mount Vernon Police Department Reports and Incidents from 1/11 - 1/12

Barry Paepcke, 68, of Fredericktown was cited for being outside of the right of way in a crosswalk.

Thomas Brown, 49, of Mount Vernon was cited for failure to control.


A resident in the 1400 block of Gambier Rd. reported a possible civil issue.

A theft was reported in the 900 block of W. Sugar St.

Officers responded to the 300 block of N. Center St. in response to a domestic violence incident.

A resident of the 1400 blcok of N. Mulberry St. reported that her bathroom and kitchen had been used, bedrooms were ransacked, and her Ipad Mini had been stolen. She advised officers that no one had permission to be in the house while she was away for the afternoon. Additionally, she advised that she had accidentally left the front door unlocked. There are no suspects at this time.

A resident of the 0-100 block of Belmont Ave. reported finding large footfronts in the snow around her house. The footprints appeared to be size 14 or larger and went between a disabled car in the driveway and the west side of the house, then around to the rear of the residence. The resident was home all day, but slept between 5 PM and 9 PM. She advised that nothing appeared to be disturbed, but requested extra patrols in the area.
