Health Department's Home Health Division Recognized

November 24, 2015 - 1:08 PM

MOUNT VERNON - The Knox County Health Department’s Home Health Division has been recognized for its quality of patient care. The agency is one of five agencies in Ohio to be named a 2015 HHCAHPS Honors recipient.

Established by Deyta Analytics, this prestigious annual honor recognizes home health agencies that continuously provide quality care as measured from the patient’s point of view through the Home Health Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers Survey (HHCAHPS). The survey is part of the Medicare billing process.

HHCAHPS Honors acknowledges the highest performing agencies by first analyzing performance on survey question 25 – “Willingness to Recommend” as a qualifier and then analyzing performance on 18 other survey questions that comprise the measures publicly reported on Medicare’s Home Health Compare over a 12-month period.

“We are very grateful to our home health staff for their continued efforts in providing the highest quality care to the residents of Knox County,” said Lane Belangia, home health director at the Knox County Health Department.  “These awards are special and deserve attention because Medicare now measures quality outcomes related to feedback from the most important people in home care---the patient.  We are grateful to our patients for their positive feedback. The HCCAHPS survey shows positive responses from more than 85 percent of our clients and their families.”

The Knox County Health Department has been providing home health services since 1965, one year before it became part of the Medicare program. The staff of registered nurses, therapists and aides serves nearly 300 patients each year. Services include skilled nursing, physical therapy – including daily therapy for joint replacement patients – speech and occupational therapy, disease management, in-home monitoring program, falls-prevention assessment and homemaker services.
