Halloween Classic Sci Fi Movie Marathon to be Shown at Public Library

MOUNT VERNON - “Aliens, spaceships and robots…oh, my!” The fourth annual Halloween Movie Marathon will focus on ten hours of “sci-fi” classics on Saturday, October 24, from 2:00 pm through midnight at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street.

The marathon will feature the following classic science fiction movies (and a surprise or two!) with approximate start times:

2:00 pm - War of the Worlds – 1953
3:30 pm - Invasion of the Body Snatcher - 1956
5:00 pm - The Forbidden Planet - 1956
7:00 pm - The Day the Earth Stood Still - 1951
8:30 pm - Alien (R) - 1979
10:30 pm - Event Horizon (R) - 1997

Participants can come for one or all shows. The lower level of the main library will be full of spooky decorations. Halloween costumes welcome. Door prizes awarded.

Children under 12 must have parent or guardian present. Movie rating age requirements will be strictly followed. After library closes at 5:00 p.m., the only door open will be the west entrance on the side of the parking lot.
