Mount Vernon Police Department Reports and Incidents 10/2 - 10/4

October 5, 2015 – 10:39 pm

Arrests

On October 2 at 8:15 pm officers responded to an incident of domestic violence on the 800 block of N. Mulberry St.  Bart Bland of Mount Vernon was arrested on charges of domestic violence.  Officer Zachary Uhler was the reporting officer.

On October 4 Victoria McGuire of Mount Vernon was arrested on charges of driving with an open container.

On October 4 Travis Bonham of Mount Vernon was arrested on charges of a warrant with probation violation.

Citations

On October 2 at 8:40 am an accident occurred on S. Main St.  Two vehicles were travelling north bound on S. Main St. each in a different lane.  The vehicle travelling in the eastern most lane attempted to change lanes in order to continue on S. Main St. and struck the second vehicle travelling in the western most lane. Zachary Johnston Griffiths, driver of the first vehicle, was cited for changing lanes without safety.  Officer Matthew Haver was the reporting officer.

On October 2 James Whetzel of Howard was cited for driving under an FRA suspension.

On October 3 Daniel Allyee of Howard was cited for changing lanes without safety.

On October 3 at 11:43 am an accident occurred on Coshocton Ave. Two vehicles were travelling east bound on Coshocton Ave.  One vehicle stopped for slowed traffic at the intersection with Brown St.  Another vehicle failed to stop, rear-ending the first. Joyleen May Goodman of Utica was cited in the crash for failing to assure clear distance ahead.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On October 3 at 12:36 pm an accident occurred on Coshocton Ave. Two vehicles were travelling eastbound.  One vehicle stopped for stalled traffic at the intersection with Shalimar Ave.  Another vehicle failed to stop, rear-ending the first.  Karen J. Glancy of Mount Vernon was cited for failing to assure clear distance ahead.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On October 3 at 10:45 pm an accident occurred on S. Gay St. at the intersection with E. Vine St. Two vehicles were stopped at the red light.  One of the vehicles attempted to make an improper left turn from the right lane onto E. Vine St.  David Hostetler of Mt. Victory was cited in the crash for turning at intersections.  Officer Aaron Collins was the reporting officer.

On October 4 Summer Rector of Mount Vernon was cited for driving or physical control while under the influence and an expired or unlawful license plate.

Accidents

On October 2 at 12:02 pm an accident occurred in a parking lot on the 1600 block of Coshocton Ave.  A vehicle backed into another parked vehicle.  Officer Matthew Haver was the reporting officer.

Incidents

On October 2 at 8:18 am officers responded to a residential alarm on the 700 block of N. Sandusky St.  Officers made contact with the resident who reported that the alarm had malfunctioned and she was attempting to disarm it.  Officers verified that everything was in order.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On October 2 at 7:30 am officers responded to a theft.  A wagon wheel was stolen on the 500 block of W. Burgess St.  Officer David McElroy was the reporting officer.

On October 2 at 1:11 pm officers responded to a theft on the first block of Marion St.  A wallet with $450 cash, an Ohio directions card and credit cards was stolen. Officer David McElroy was the reporting officer.

On October 2 at 5:52 pm officers responded to a theft on the first block of Martinsburg Rd.  $120 in cash was stolen.  Officer Aaron Collins was the reporting officer.

On October 2 at 8:15 pm officers responded to a theft on the 700 block of Follin Ave.  A license plate was stolen.  Officer Nicholas Myrda was the reporting officer.

On October 3 at 9 am officers responded to a theft on the 100 block of S. Norton St. Officer David McElroy was the reporting officer.

On October 4 at 11:53 am officers responded to an event of criminal mischief on the first block of E. Ohio Ave. A glass block, bag of mortar mix and a dumpster were damaged.  Officer David McElroy was the reporting officer.
