Saturday's Events at the Oldtime Farming Festival in Centerburg

The community and surrounding areas are invited to come out today to the Oldtime Farming Festival to celebrate agricultural heritage at the Community Memorial Park- just north of Centerburg at the intersection of St Rt 314 and US Rts 3/36.

Today's schedule is as follows:

At 7:30 am, registration begins for Centerburg Lions Club 5K Run/Walk. 

At 8 am, registration begins for the Horticultural Show and goes until noon. 

At 8:30 am, 23rd Annual Heart of Ohio 5-K Run/Walk begins. 

At 9 am, the tractor/machinery registration begins and goes until Noon at the Tractor Area. 

At 10 am, Festival Parade through Centerburg, Craft Show, Food Vendors, Horticulture Show, History Center         and Old-fashioned Demos open.

At 11 am, Flag Raising and Opening Ceremony with Centerburg HS Band at the Festival Stage, Parade awards presented, and Quarters in the Sand at Kids Corner. 

At noon, Calliope concert at the Ball Field,  Almosta Bluegrass Band at the Festival stage, fiddle Contest registration behind the Festival Stage, the Horticulture Show registration ends, Tractor/Machinery Show registrations ends, Face Painting begins at the Kids Corner until 5 pm, Games, sign-ups for contests begin at Contests & Games, Pony Rides all afternoon at the Riverbend Ball Field, Rex Naylor the magician performs at the Kids Corner until 5 pm, and horse drawn hayrides until 5 pm at the Tractor Area. 

At 1 pm, the Fiddle & Banjo Contest begins at the Festival Stage, Horticulture Show judging begins, the Spelling Bee for grades 6 - adult begins at Contests & Games, and the Tractor Rescue Mock Demonstration and "Touch a Truck" begins.

At 1:30 pm, Sack Races begins for ages 6 - adult at Contests & Games and the Pet Parade sign up at the Riverbend Stage.

At 2 pm, Chris Gantt, cowboy guitarist/vocalist performs at the Festival Stage, Pet Parade at the Riverbend Stage-blacktop, and the Cake Walk for all ages begins at the Contests & Games. 

At 2:30 pm, Antique Tractor & Machinery Demos & Activities until 4:30pm at the Tractor Area, the Tootsie Roll-in-the-Hay candy hunt begins at the Kids Corner, and the Nail-Driving Contest begins at Contests & Games. 

At 3 pm, Buckeye Country Cloggers perform at the Festival Stage, Cookie Contest registration begins behind the Festival Stage, and the Women's Rolling Pin Throwing Contest begins at Contest & Games.

At 4 pm, the Willow Farm Boys perform on the Festival Stage, Cookie Contest judging starts behind the Festival Stage, and the Old-fashioned Oratory Competition (speech) is held at Contests & Games. 

At 4:30 pm, the Square Dancing Tractors is held at the Tractor Area and the Bale Toss begins at Contests & Games. 

At 5 pm, Scott Utley, country vocalist performs at the Festival Stage, the Cookie Contest results are announced around the Festival Stage, and the Cookie Auction is held at the Festival Stage. 

At 5:30 pm, the Chicken Dance Contest is held at Contests & Games-blacktop. 

At 6 pm, the Old-fashioned Pie Auction is held at the Festival Stage. Contests & Games, Horticulture Show, History Center and the Old-Fashioned Demos close. 

At 7:30 pm, Hogweasel Breakdown at the Festival Stage.

At 8 pm, Square Dance with Mack Shepard begins at the Riverbend Stage-blacktop.

At 10 pm, the festival closes. 

Throughout the afternoon in the Tractor Area there will be demonstrations with various engines, plus threshing and bailing with vintage equipment. 

This year The Oldtime Farming Festival will honor the memory of retired EMS Captain Hugh Dick by holding a Tractor Rescue Mock Demonstration. There will also be a "Touch a Truck" with fire departments, EMS agencies and an Air Evac helicopter. This event will be held near the main entrance to Centerburg Community Memorial Park on State Route 314.
