Mount Vernon Police Department Crash and Citation Reports 9/03 – 9/05

September 9, 2015 – 11:20 am

Citations

On September 3 at 7:22 am a crash occurred on N. Edgewood Road close to the intersection of E. High St.  A vehicle was travelling east on E. High Street and attempted to turn right onto N. Edgewood Road when it was struck by a second vehicle that failed to stop at the stop sign when travelling south on N. Edgewood Rd.  The two vehicles front-ends crashed and were then pushed into a third vehicle stopped at the stop sign facing south on N. Edgewood.  The driver of the first vehicle, who is a minor, was cited in the crash for operation at a stop sign.  Officer Jessica Butler was the reporting officer.

On September 3 at 12:43 pm a crash occurred on Belmont Ave close to the intersection with Mansfield Ave.  A vehicle was travelling eastbound on Belmont when it was struck on the side by a second vehicle pulling out of a private parking lot.  The driver of the second vehicle, who is a minor, was cited in the crash. Officer Matthew Haver was the reporting officer.

On September 3 at 12:45 pm a vehicle was travelling westbound on Plaza Drive when she swerved to avoid a stray cat.  The vehicle veered off the right hand side of the road, striking a fire hydrant.  The driver continued to her residence before reporting the crash.  Hollie Jo Henwood of Fredericktown, driver of the vehicle, was cited for failure to control/weaving course.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On September 3, Terry Byrd of Mount Vernon was cited for having expired or unlawful license plates.

On September 3, Jennifer Pauley of Mount Vernon was cited for driving under suspension.

On September 4 at 6:38 am a crash occurred on E Chestnut St.  Two vehicles were travelling west, when one vehicle stopped for traffic.  The other vehicle failed to stop, rear-ending the first one.  Richard Cly of Howard was cited in the crash for failing to assure clear distance ahead.  Officer Jessica Butler was the reporting officer.

On September 4 at 11:11 am a crash occurred on Coshocton Ave at the entrance/exit for the Tractor Supply Business.  One vehicle had stopped for the red light when a second vehicle failed to stop and rear-ended the first.  Destiny Calbert of Mount Vernon was cited in the crash for failing to assure clear distance ahead and for driving an unsafe vehicle.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On September 5, Joseph Belcher of Mount Vernon was cited for having expired or unlawful license plates.

Accidents

On September 3 at 7:52 am a crash occurred in the parking lot of the Knox County Common Pleas.  A vehicle was parked eastbound when it was struck by an unknown second vehicle.   Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On September 3 at 2:53 pm a crash occurred on Coshocton Ave.  Two vehicles were headed westbound in the southern most lane.  One vehicle stopped for a red light and was struck by the second vehicle, as their breaks failed.  Officer Matthew Haver was the reporting officer.

On September 4 at 10:46 am a crash occurred on S. Main St.  A vehicle was parked on the east side of the roadway and an unknown vehicle rear-ended the first and left the scene. Minor damage was observed.  Officer David McElroy was the reporting officer.

On September 5 at 12:00 pm a crash occurred on the first block of Laurelwood Dr.  A vehicle was parked northbound on the east side of the roadway.  A second unknown vehicle struck the parked vehicle and left the scene, damaging the front driver’s side area of the car.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.
