FIVE SENTENCED ON FELONIES

MOUNT VERNON – Knox County Common Pleas Judge Otho Eyster sentenced three felony defendants Friday. According to Prosecutor Chip McConville, a statewide warrant was also issued for Jeremy A. Morris, who did not appear for sentencing. Morris is wanted for Aggravated Possession of Drugs.  A $25,000 bond has been established.

 

Curtis Dean Looney Jr., 32, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced today for Burglary, a felony of the third degree. Looney had broken into a residence on Pritchard Road in the Danville area.  Looney was sentenced to a definite term of 30 months in prison and will serve up the three years of post-release control after release from prison. He was also ordered to pay court costs and restitution in the amount of $282.85. This case was investigated by Det. James Ferenbaugh of the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

 

John E. Adams, 28, of Zanesville, was sentenced for Burglary, a felony of the third degree. Adams was apprehended in June immediately following the break-in at a residence on Hazel Dell Road.  Adams was sentenced to a definite term of 30 months in prison and ordered to pay court costs. After serving his prison term he will serve up to three years of post-release control. This case was investigated by Det. Sgt. Craig Feeney of the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

 

John A. Price, 28, of Columbus, was sentenced for Passing Bad Checks, a felony of the fourth degree. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 180 days suspended and three years of community control. If he fails to comply with community control he could face up to 17 months in prison. Price was ordered to pay $8,200 in restitution to Valley ATV, pay court costs, complete a drug and alcohol assessment, submit to drug and alcohol use monitoring, complete a mental health assessment and maintain fulltime employment. This case was investigated by Det. Sgt. Craig Feeney of the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

 

Nancy C. Lester, 52, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced today for Permitting Drug Abuse, a felony of the fifth degree. Lester was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 11 months in prison suspended. She was also placed on three years of community control and her driver’s license was suspended for 6 months. Lester must also complete a drug and alcohol assessment, submit to drug and alcohol use monitoring, and pay court costs. This case was investigated by Det. James DeChant of the Mount Vernon Police Department and Det. Sgt. Craig Feeney .

 

Caleb L. Vernon, 30, of Mount Vernon, had a revocation hearing on two cases involving three counts of Aggravated Possession of Drugs, all fifth degree felonies. Vernon admitted to failing a drug screen and was sentenced to 84 days in jail. This case was investigated by Ptl. Aaron Collins of the Mount Vernon Police Department.
