Mount Vernon Police Department Reports and Incidents 8/19

August 20, 2015 – 9:30 am

Arrests:

On August 19 at 1:52 am officers responded to a missing juvenile report on the 600 block of W. Gambier St.  The juvenile was found accompanied by two adults, Chad Stroud of Mount Vernon and Nichole Schaffer of Perrysville, who were both charged with “Curfew Violation: aiding and abet”.  Officer Qade Lewis was the reporting officer.

Citations

On August 19 at 10:43 pm a crash was reported on Coshocton Ave close to the intersection with Vernon View Dr. Both units were travelling westbound.  The first vehicle was rear-ended by the second upon approaching the intersection.  Timothy Knell of Mount Vernon, driver of the second vehicle, was cited for failing to assure clear distance ahead.  Officer Jason Payne was the reporting officer.

Incidents

On August 19 at 2:35 am officers located a vehicle with expired plates on the 700 block of N. Main St.  The plates and registration indicated that the vehicle was subject to impound.  Officers had the vehicle transported to the city impound lot.  An administrative vehicle inventory was completed. Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On August 19 at 9:07 am officers responded to a report of disorderly conduct on the first block of Belmont Ave.  The complainant had requested to speak with an officer regarding an incident.  Officer Scott McKnight was the reporting officer.

On August 19 at 7:00 am officers responded to a theft on the 900 block of W. High St.  A new white and orange Mongoose bicycle was stolen from the victim’s garage.  Officer Scott McKnight was the reporting officer.

On August 19 at 4:30 pm officers responded to a report of a suspicious person on the first block of Washington St.  Two used and two new hypodermic needles were recovered.  Officer Jason Payne was the reporting officer.
