Mount Vernon Police Department Reports and Incidents 8/14 - 8/16

August 17, 2015 – 6:48 pm

Arrests

On August 14 at 6:15 pm, Jessica Mantel, 29 of Mount Vernon, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

On August 15 at 10:40 pm officers responded to a disturbance on the 100 block of Howard St.  Jason Gildersleeve, 33 of Centerburg, was arrested on charges of abusing harmful intoxicants.  Officer Nicholas Holdren was the reporting officer. 

Citations

On August 14 at 10:59 am, Carol Brooks of Newark was cited for a red light violation on S. Main St and Columbus Rd.

On August 14 at 3:21 pm, Michael Bird of Mount Vernon was cited for driving under suspension on N. Jefferson and W. Chestnut Streets.

On August 14 at 4:06 pm officers responded to a crash in the Walmart parking lot on Coshocton Ave.  One vehicle was parked in front of a second vehicle and backed into the front end of the second vehicle before pulling out and leaving the scene.  The first vehicle was located by officers.  The driver, who is a minor, was cited for failing to stop after the crash.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On August 14 at 5:51 pm, Dylan Jackson of Howard was cited for driving under suspension, expired or unlawful license plates and requiring an exhaust system.  The vehicle was impounded. 

On August 15 at 10:37 am, Caitlin Keller of Mount Vernon was cited for speeding on Wooster Rd.

On August 15 at 2:34 pm, Michael Bird of Mount Vernon was cited for driving under suspension on W. High St and Fountain St.

On August 16 at 5:04 pm, Darin Alspach of Howard was cited for driving under an FRA suspension on McArthur and E. Chestnut Streets. 

On August 16 at 5:53 pm, Victoria Blain of Mount Vernon was cited for having expired or unlawful license plates on E. High and Center Streets.

Accidents

On August 14 at 3:37 pm officers responded to a non-injury crash on West Pleasant St.  A parked car was struck by another car; however it is unclear how the crash occurred.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer. 

On August 15 at 12:47 pm officers responded to a crash in a parking lot on the 600 block of Sandusky St.  A vehicle was backing out of a parking spot and failed to see a second vehicle driving through the lot, and so struck the second vehicle.  Officer Brian Weiser was the reporting officer.

On August 16 at 3:42 pm officers responded to a motorcycle crash.  The motorcyclist was travelling southbound on Sychar Road and attempted to turn eastbound onto Beech St., when it struck a patch of oil causing the motorcycle to slide to a halt.  Officer Nicholas Holdren was the reporting officer.


Incidents

On August 14 at 8:40 am an individual reported found property to officers on the 900 block of E. High St.  An ID and W9 form were found and turned over to the officers.  Officer David McElroy was the reporting officer.

On August 14 officers responded to a report of lost property on the Public Square.  An individual reported the loss of a driver’s license and an AARP card.  Officer Scott McKnight was the reporting officer.

On August 14 at 12:40 pm officers responded to an alarm on the 200 block of Duke St.  The investigation continues.  Officer Matthew Haver was the reporting officer.

On August 14 at 2:43 pm officers responded to a theft on the 100 block of E. Hamtramck St.  The victim reported that 26” gray rims were stolen.  Officer David McElroy was the reporting officer.

On August 15 at 10:10 am officers responded to the Craft Festival on South Main St. on the report of a theft. Twenty-four hats were stolen.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On August 15 at 3:18 pm officers responded to a report of identity fraud on the 500 block of N. Main St. Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On August 15 at 4:09 pm officers responded to a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on the 1000 block of Coshocton Avenue.  The theft of a chainsaw and a power washer and hoses was also reported.  Officer Nicholas Holdren was the reporting officer.

On August 15 at 5:55 pm officers responded to a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on the 100 block of Parrott St.  Officer Nicholas Holdren was the reporting officer.

On August 15 at 7:14 pm officers responded to a disturbance on the 200 block of Shirley Ave.  Officers recovered a piece of a round pill with AP printed on it.  Officer Aaron Collins was the reporting officer.

On August 15 at 10:40 pm officers responded to a theft from a vehicle on the 1100 block of E. Vine St.  Medication, black Oakley sunglasses and 10$ in quarters was stolen.  Officer Aaron Collins was the reporting officer.

On August 16 at 10:51 am officers responded to a report of found property on the first block of Columbus Rd.  An employee at a business found and turned in a debit card that had been left at the business.  The officers contacted the card company as the holder’s information was not on the card.  The company advised that they would send a new card to the holder and that the card should be destroyed.  Officers have stored the card in an evidence locker with a request to destroy the card. Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On August 16 at 4:45 pm officers responded to a theft on the 700 block of Follin Ave.  The complainant reported that pain medication had been stolen.  Officer Nicholas Holdren was the reporting officer.

On August 16 officers responded to a call regarding a theft.  A crossbow and instant power battery pack were reported stolen.  Officer Zachary Uhler was the reporting officer.
