Mount Vernon Police Department Incidents and Reports 8/13

August 14, 2015 – 10:30 am

Arrests

On August 13 at 4:25 pm officers responded to a disturbance on E. Sugar St.  Michael Smith, 56 of Mount Vernon, was arrested on charges of public indecency.  Officer Jason Payne was the reporting officer.

Citations

On August 13 at 8:22 am officers responded to an accident on North Mulberry St. at the intersection with West Burgess St.  A vehicle travelling southbound in the right-hand lane tried to switch lanes into the left-hand lane and failed to see another vehicle also travelling southbound in the left hand lane.  The first vehicle struck the second.  Elizabeth Cornelius of Mount Vernon, driver of the first vehicle, was cited for changing lanes without safety.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On August 13, Joseph Upton of Mount Vernon was cited for speeding on New Gambier Road.  Officer Haver was the reporting officer.

On August 13, Gary Mader of Centerburg was cited for changing lanes without safety on W. High St.  Officer Holdren was the reporting officer.

Incidents

On August 13 at 10:25 am officers responded to a report of a missing person on the 600 block of W. Gambier St.  The investigation is in process. Officer Matthew Haver was the reporting officer.

On August 13 at 10:00 am officers responded to a report of garage sale signs for AMVETS posted on trees in the Public Square.  The signs were removed.  Officer Scott McKnight was the reporting officer.

On August 13 at 1:29 pm officers responded to the first block of Cottage Street in reference to an abandoned vehicle.  The Skamper 275F Fifth Wheel was towed to the city impound lot where an Administrative Vehicle Inventory was completed.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.
