Mount Vernon Police Department Reports and Incidents 7/31 – 8/03

August 4, 2015 – 2:00 PM

Accidents

On July 31 at 10:39 AM a pickup struck a building when backing out of a driveway across the street on the first block of Martinsburg Rd.  Some damage was caused to the pickup. No injuries were reported.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer. 

On August 2 at 12:49 pm a crash occurred in the eastbound lane of Coshocton Avenue.  The vehicle driven by Sarah Abbitt, 21, failed to stop for stalled traffic and rear-ended the car in front of her.  Subsequently, the impact caused this car to strike a third car, which in turn struck a fourth.  Abbitt was cited for failing to assure clear distance ahead.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On August 2 at 1:43 PM a crash occurred in the parking lot of a Ruby Tuesday’s on the 1000 block of Coshocton.  While backing out of the parking spot southwest bound, an unidentified vehicle struck a second vehicle’s right rear door.  The first vehicle left the area, failing to stop for the crash.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On August 3 at 6:19 AM officers responded to a crash at the traffic light on Coshocton Avenue at Woodlake Trail.  A midsized vehicle struck a van when stopped at the traffic light.  Both vehicles were stopped at the light when the mid-sized vehicle started to move and struck the van.  No injuries were reported.  Officer Jeremiah Armstrong was the reporting officer.

On August 3 at 3:54 PM officers responded to an incident involving a motorcycle on Vernedale Dr. in a parking lot.  The motorcycle was parked and struck or knocked over in an unknown manner.  The right front area of the motorcycle was damaged.  Officer Zachary Uhler was the reporting officer.

On August 3 at 3:55 PM officers responded to an accident in the Walmart parking lot on the 1500 block of Coshocton Ave.  The first vehicle was backing out of a parking space and struck the second vehicle that was trying to pull into the space.  The second vehicle pulled forward through the space and then backed up.  Officer Zachary Uhler was the reporting officer. 

On August 3 at 7:28 PM officers responded to a crash at the intersection of E. Ohio Avenue and N. Gay St.  Matthew Wesley Jr., who was driving a pickup, failed to stop at a red light and struck a vehicle travelling north on N. Gay St.  There were no injuries.  Wesley was cited for running the red light. 

On August 3 at 7:14 PM officers responded to a crash between two vehicles travelling northbound on South Main St.  One vehicle attempted to change to the left lane and struck a second vehicle already travelling in that lane.  The first vehicle left the scene.  The second vehicle suffered damage to the right front area of the vehicle.  Officer Zachary Uhler was the reporting officer.

On August 3 at 7:53 PM officers responded to a crash at the intersection of North Sandusky and West High Streets.  A van was travelling westbound on West High and failed to yield at the traffic signal, striking a second vehicle travelling southbound on N. Sandusky.  Officer Zachary Uhler was the reporting officer.

Arrests

On July 31 at 10:20 am Zachary Freeman, 25, was arrested on charges of an outstanding warrant on the 1100 block of Upper Gilchrist Rd.

On July 31 at 1:41 pm officers responded to a report of domestic violence on the 800 block of W. Vine St. in Mount Vernon.  Breanna Davis was arrested on charges of domestic violence.  Officer David McElroy was the reporting officer.

On August 1 at 2:50 am officers responded to a fight at a bar on the 100 block of W. Ohio Ave.  Celeste Tucker, 21, and Kimlin Poulton, 25, were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct.  Officer Zachary Miller was the reporting officer.

On August 2 at 4:17 am officers responded to a theft on the 800 block of Coshocton Ave. Two fudge rounds and a honey bun were stolen from a gas station.  A Verizon tablet was also stolen and recovered.  Trevor Hagans, 26, was arrested on charges of theft.  Officer Nicholas Myrda was the reporting officer. 

On August 2 at 1:07 pm officers responded to an incident of shoplifting on the 1500 block of Coshocton Ave.  Miscellaneous items totaling a value of $51.97 were stolen.  Caitlyn Nugent, 19, was charged for theft.  Officer Brian Weiser was the reporting officer.

Citations

On August 1 at 1:13 pm Effie Tennyson was cited for lack of child restraints on S. Main St.

On August 1 at 6:24 pm Rebecca Stahle was cited for expired or unlawful license plates at the traffic stop on N. Sandusky and N. Norton.

On August 1 at 6:45 pm Donald Korns was cited for expired or unlawful license plates at the traffic stop on Curtis St. and N. Mulberry St.

On August 2 at 8:21 PM, Scott Schaade was cited for driving under suspension/revocation of license at the traffic stop on N. Sandusky and W. Hamtramck Streets.

On August 3 at 10 PM Nicholas Hull was cited for changing lanes without safety at the intersection of Decatur St. and Taylor Rd.

Incidents

On July 31 at 5:10 AM officers observed and responded to an incident of domestic violence on the 300 block of Columbus Rd 7 in Mount Vernon.  Officers noticed a woman who seemed dazed and spoke with her to check if everything was okay, to which she responded “no”.  Officers followed up with the woman.  Officer Jessica Butler was the reporting officer.

On July 31 at 9: 27 AM officers responded to an incident of breaking and entering on the 200 block of North Main St. in Mount Vernon.  A backpack style orange and white leaf-blower was stolen.  Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On July 31 officers responded to credit card theft on the 600 block of Coshocton Ave. in Mount Vernon.  The victim reported that 286 dollars were stolen.  Officer David McElroy was the reporting officer.

On July 31 at 5:13 pm officers responded to a report of an issue with Social Security disbursements on the first block of North Gay St. The current caregiver of the recipient reported that the previous caregiver was withholding the August payment.  Officer Andrew Burns was the reporting officer.

On July 31 at 5:41 pm officers responded to a report of vandalism at the Ariel – Foundation Park on the 100 block of S. Norton St. in Mount Vernon.  Damage to fresh concrete was found.  Officer Nicholas Holdren was the reporting officer.

On July 31 at 8:15 pm officers responded to an incident of criminal trespassing on the 100 block of Kirk St. in Mount Vernon. Officer Zachary Uhler was the reporting officer.

On July 31 at 10:57 pm officers responded to a report of juveniles breaking into a car on the 100 block of E. Sugar St. in Mount Vernon. Officers found and seized a smoking device with marijuana residue. Officer Nicholas Holdren was the reporting officer.

On August 1 at 12:28 am officers responded to an assault on the 1000 block of Coshocton Ave. in Mount Vernon.  Officer Zachary Miller was the reporting officer.

On August 1 at 6:26 am officers responded to a theft of a Social Security card on the first block of Elliot St. in Mount Vernon. Officer Lewis Quade was the reporting officer.

On August 1 at 4:29 pm officers responded to a burglary on the 100 block of Ringold St. in Mount Vernon.  An electric orange and black leaf-blower was stolen.  Officer Zachary Uhler was the reporting officer.

On August 1 at 7:53 pm officers responded to an incident of domestic violence on the 800 block of W. Vine St.  Officer Nicholas Holdren was the reporting officer.

On August 1 at 8:06 pm officers responded to a theft from a vehicle on the 400 block of N. Gay St.  A toolbox with hand tools and a battery tester was stolen. Officer Zachary Uhler was the reporting officer.

On August 1 at 8:22 pm officers responded to a theft on the 1300 block of Coshocton Ave.   A brown leather wallet and checks were stolen. Officer Jason Payne was the reporting officer.

On August 1 at 11:16 pm officers responded to a report of vandalism on the 600 block of W. Chestnut St.  A door window was damaged.  Officer Nicholas Holdren was the reporting officer.

On August 2 at 8:32 am officers responded to a burglary on the first block of McKinley St.  A Sanyo 32” television and X box gaming system with a controller was stolen. Officer Justin Trowbridge was the reporting officer.

On August 2 at 4:44 pm officers responded to a theft from a vehicle on the 600 block of N. Gay St.  Sunglasses, a garage door opener, a PH&H fuel card and a parking ID were stolen.  Officer Zachary Uhler was the reporting officer.

On August 2 at 5:39 pm officers responded to a theft on the 800 block of W. Vine St.  A 16” Ford Mustang tire and rim were stolen.  Officer Aaron Collins was the reporting officer.

On August 2 at 5:49 pm officers responded to a theft on the 700 block of Follin Ave. Thirty dollars in cash, an unknown amount of meat from a freezer and a pair of Nike shoes were stolen.  Officer Michael Wheeler was the reporting officer.

On August 3 at 1 pm officers responded to an incident of domestic violence on the first block of Plaza Drive. Officer David McElroy was the reporting officer.

On August 3 at 3:59 pm officers responded to a theft on the first block of Sandusky St.  An Apple cell phone was stolen. Officer Nicholas Holdren was the reporting officer.

On August 3 at 11:59 pm officers responded to an incident of domestic violence on the 300 block of North Main St.  Officer Jeremiah Armstrong was the reporting officer.
