Arrests

On July 31, Christopher Litt was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Ashland County for Failure to Appear on the charge of passing bad checks.  Litt was found at the Knox County Fairgrounds when officers responded to a disturbance at one of the rides where Litt was working as the ride operator.  The complainant had advised that the operator was being verbally abusive to the patrons and not allowing them to board the ride when empty seats were still available.  Upon contact with the responding officers, Litt refused to produce identification.  The responding officers requested assistance and upon arrival of additional support, the suspect was identified, arrested due to the outstanding warrant and transferred to the Ashland County line.  Officer Thomas Travis was the reporting officer.

On August 1 officers responded to a burglary in process on the 17300 block of Gambier Rd in Mt. Vernon.  Officers entered the residence and found the suspect, Tyler Krumlauf, in the attic.  The suspect was placed under arrest and incarcerated in the Knox County Jail for burglary. Officer Brandon Minot was the reporting officer.

Incidents 

On July 29 at 6 pm officers responded to a theft from an unlocked vehicle on the 700 block of Greenbriar Circle in Howard.  A cell phone was stolen.  Officer Daniel Selby was the reporting officer.

On July 30 at 10:30 pm officers responded to a theft from an unlocked vehicle on the 600 block of Greenbriar Circle in Howard.  A wallet and check book were stolen. Officer Daniel Selby was the reporting officer.

On July 30 at 8 pm officers responded to a theft from an unlocked vehicle on the 21500 block of Schenck Creek Rd. in Howard.  Several items were stolen.  The victim reported that this is the second time that items have been stolen from his car.  Officer Daniel Selby was the reporting officer.

On July 31 at 10:20 am officers responded to an incident of shoplifting at the Dollar General on N. Sandusky St. in Mt. Vernon.  Clothing was taken away from the business.  Officer Jason Wilson was the reporting officer.

On July 31 officers responded to an incident of burglary and vandalism on the 500 block of Wooster Rd. in Mt. Vernon.  The complainant reported that he had discovered an unsecure door on one of the dorm buildings and upon checking, found that the entire dorm had been vandalized.  He also reported that he had found an unsecure basement window and suspects that this was the way of entry.  The officers checked the building, finding holes in the walls, stoves and microwaves broken and general disorder.  Officer Daniel Selby was the reporting officer.

On July 31 officers responded to a burglary at a store on the 12300 block of East St. in Howard.  The owner reported that the store had been closed for several weeks as they had been travelling.  Upon arrival at the store, she discovered that it had been burglarized.  Merchandise valued at $4,000 was stolen including arts, crafts, purses and candles.  Officer Aaron Phillips was the reporting officer.

On August 1 officers responded to an incident of vandalism on the 9100 block of Fairview Rd. in Mt. Vernon.  The victim’s house was vandalized with sparkly purple paint.  Three or four trees were also toilet-papered and a milky white substance was found on an outdoor bench, the sidewalk and mailbox.  The victim reported that he believes it was a random act.  There are no suspects in this case.  Officer Lee Eppich was the reporting officer.

On August 1 officers responded to a burglary on the 10600 block of Summer Lane in Mt. Vernon.  Victims reported that items had been removed from their residence. Officer Jason Wilson was the reporting officer.

On August 1 officers responded to a burglary on the 7900 block of Newark Rd. in Mt. Vernon.  Officers responded after a residential alarm was set off involving the rear door of the residence.  The Mt. Vernon Police Department responded due to the incident location.  Officers found the garage door open as well as a broken window on the back door of the residence.  Upon searching the residence, no one was found and nothing was found disturbed.  The homeowner then arrived and did not find anything missing at the time.  Officer Terry Wolfe was the reporting officer.
