PHOTO: A Knox County Stream

Knox County's streams and rivers may be one of its greatest assets. This stream, along Quarry Chapel Rd, near Gambier, was flowing slowly, yet steadily, creating a relaxing peaceful sound this evening.

One must wonder what the modern world has lost with the advent of electronics and noise-making machinery. There is no one alive today which knew a world without it. What peace did our ancestors feel when they gazed upon a stream like this one and heard nothing but the water flowing and the rummaging of wild animals through the fields and forests?

Interests of people towards entertainment changed, shifted from valuing traditional and natural things to modern lifestyle. Technology made the world as a village where people could see the cultural practices from other regions of the world. Through this, the world was mixed up and people begun to think and do things in a modern manner, they forgot all the natural aspects of the world, therefore natural beauty is unknown to the majority.
