By Katie Schultz

July 9, 2015 - 12:59 AM

The public is welcome to come out to The Great Mohican Pow-Wow being held this weekend, July 10, 11, and 12, and then again in September for the weekend of the 18, 19, and 20.

A Pow-Wow is the Native American people's way of congregating to dance, sing, and be among friends.

The event is being held at 23270 Wally Road, Loudonville, Ohio 44842. However, GPS will not work with the address. Directions, as well as a complete schedule of activities and events, can be found on the website www.mohicanpowwow.com.

Some activities and events include: storytelling, fire starting demos, and tomahawk throwing demos. There will also be artisan displays of various items such as basket weaving, pottery, silver smithing, and more.

The event is being held rain or shine. Parking is free, and pets and alcohol are not permitted on the grounds.

Admission for adults 13 and up is $8.00, children 6-12 is $4.00. Weekend passes are available as well. Tickets can be purchased at the front gate.

For more information, call the Mohican- Reservation Toll Free at 800-766-2267.
