A broken leg is visible, therefore it is easily noticeable that the sufferer is incapable of doing certain activities. However, some medical issues require conversation to become known. It can be difficult to comprehend someone's pain if it's not noticeable.

Chronic migraines effect about 7 million Americans. A common misconception concerning migraines is that they are just common headaches. However, migraines are intense headaches that can cause sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, vomiting, and changes in vision. Migraines are considered to be chronic when a person suffers 15 or more "headache days" per month.

Migraines can be debilitating, some people can not walk while suffering a migraine or even talk correctly. Migraines can be mysterious as well, "Silent migraines" are when an individual is suffering from a migraine, with all the symptoms, but with no headache. Triggers for migraines include, but are not limited to: stress, artificial lighting, certain foods and drinks, strong odors, and weather. Treating chronic migraines primarily involves taking medication that can dull the symptoms.

Fibromyalgia is a debilitating disorder that causes chronic pain in the muscles and bones in about 5 million Americans. Along with pain, fibromyalgia commonly causes fatigue, mood issues, insomnia, and trouble with memory. Fibromyalgia symptoms usually begin and intensify gradually, but can sometimes be caused after trauma(physical and psychological), surgery, or infection. Many sufferers may also have temporomandibular joint disorders, headaches, rashes, and irritable bowel syndrome. Along with migraines, there is no cure, only medications to ease symptoms and physical therapy to help improve the joints.

According to the Just One 2014 campaign for invisible illness awareness week, 1 in 2 Americans suffer from an unseen chronic illness. That is roughly about 133 million people.

Being aware of the unseen might be a feat, but its important to be conscious that not everything, or everyone, is as they appear. The human body is incredible, and also mysterious. Diseases and disorders can dramatically impact someone's life whether it's noticeable or not. There is plenty that can be wrong with the human body. Be sure to visit your physician regularly to stay on top of your health.
