Come out to the Heritage Centre Association’s July First Friday held in downtown Mount Vernon, on Friday, July 4, 2015.

The Heritage Centre Association hosts this annual event to help with their efforts in improving the economic, social, and historical development of the central business district and downtown Mount Vernon.

The event is sponsored by Ariel Corporation and will feature many interesting acts such as the band, the Exile, on the Square and a motorcycle cruise-in on South Main Street. Activities include Sophia’s Petting Zoo, balloon sculpting with Rex Naylor, Science Play Initiative Spot (a play scientific play space for kids), and many more.

Food will be provided by Cowgirl Concessions, Tim Horton’s, and Whit’s Frozen Custard. Restaurants such as Flapper’s Bar & Grille, HoneyBuckets Tavern, and the Alcove will also be open for business. Shops such as the Gospel Supply shop, Woolson’s general supply shop, the Smiling Sunflower boutique, Kudos Art Co-op, Down Home Leather, and Alicie’s Action Figure Frenzy will be open for anyone looking for unique gifts ideas for friends and family. Art galleries such as the Coleman Family Gallery and the MVNU’S Schnormeier Gallery will be open to the public. The Woodward Opera House will also be open at 6pm-8pm for tours.

There will also be “Movie Night at the Depot at the CA&C Depot, “make-and-take” crafting classes offered by Country Stitches, sidewalk art activities by Paragraphs Bookstore, and live performances at Flapper’s Bar & Grille by Chris Gantt, The Place @ The Woodward by Sam Shuman, and MVNU’S Buchwald Plaza gazebo by Noah Shull.

Media sponsors, WQIO 93.7, WNZR, and KnoxPages.com will be broadcasting live downtown on the day of the event.

Registration table will be on the Square and 25 goody bags will be given out to random participants. Door prizes will also be awarded. Registration is free so everyone is encouraged to come out and join the fun.
