Mount Vernon Police Department Reports from 6/1

Carl Wells, 34, of Mount Vernon, was arrested.

April Young, 31, of Mount Vernon, was cited for not having an operator/chauffeur license, and improper turning at intersections.


Officers were dispatched to a structure fire on Shirley Ave.

At approximately 7:38 AM, an officer was dispatched to the 700 block of West High Street on a report of a theft from vehicle. Upon arrival, the complainant stated that she left her vehicle unlocked and several credit cards were removed from the vehicle. Complainant completed a written statement and a report was taken. Nothing further to report at this time.

At approximately 8 AM, an officer responded to the 900 block of West High Street, in reference to a theft from a vehicle complaint. Reported stolen was an RCA dual-screen DVD player. The investigation continues.

A complainant reported her wallet stolen at Walmart.


While traveling southbound in the right lane of North Mulberry Street (a one way street), a 1993 Fod Tempo, operated by April R. Young, of Mount Vernon, attempted to turn left onto West Sugar Street and struck the side of 2014 Ford Fusion, operated by, annika U. Lester, of Mount Vernon, who was traveling southbound on North Mulberry Street in the left lane.
