MOUNT VERNON - The Knox County Health Department has contracted with Knox Community Hospital for provision of medical services in its community health clinic. Jackie Neighbarger, a certified nurse practitioner, started seeing patients earlier this month and will be at the health department every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.

While at the health department, Neighbarger will see patients for a variety of health problems including ear aches, sore throats and other pediatric problems; sinus infection, flu, colds, and other chronic or acute health conditions. She will provide general clinic services for both adults and children including illness and wellness checks, physical exams, sports physicals, work physicals, pelvic exams, Pap smears, pregnancy tests, wound care and testing for sexually transmitted illness (STI).

Fees for clinic services at the health department are on a sliding-fee schedule. Medicare/Medicaid and most insurance plans are accepted. No one is refused treatment because of inability to pay for service. To make an appointment with Neighbarger, contact the community health clinic at 740-399-8009.
