Seven Sentenced on Felonies, Bond Revoked for Price

MOUNT VERNON – Seven defendants were sentenced Friday by Judge Otho Eyster in the Knox County Court of Common Pleas.


Ashli N. Price was also in court for a bond revocation hearing. The Court granted the revocation and Price will be held in the Knox County Jail without bond until her sentencing for Obstruction of Justice on June 17th.


Clifford D. Koch, 31, of Newark, was sentenced for Failure to Provide Change of Address, a third-degree felony. A convicted sex offender, Koch has two prior convictions for failing to provide a change of address. He was sentenced to three years of mandatory prison time and ordered to pay court costs.


Zachary J. Elkins, 28, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced for Possession of Marijuana, a third-degree felony, and Receiving Stolen Property, a fifth degree felony. Elkins was found in possession of more than 4 pounds of marijuana, which he intended to sell. The Prosecutor’s Office was also granted forfeiture of the Volkswagen used to traffic the marijuana. Elkins was sent to prison for 30 months for the marijuana and 11 months for the receiving stolen property. The sentences will run concurrently He was also ordered to pay court costs and restitution in the amount of $242. His driver’s license was also suspended for one year.


Richard E. Callihan, 49, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced for Robbery, a third-degree felony Callihan stole $370.95 from the Shell gas station on Harcourt Road, while pretending to have a gun. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison, and must pay court costs and $650 in restitution.


Joshua L. Jones, 32, of Burbank, was sentenced for two counts of Breaking and Entering, fifth-degree felonies, Safecracking, a fourth-degree felony, and Theft from a Person in a Protected Class, a third-degree felony. He was sentenced to 11 months for the breaking and entering, 17 months for the safecracking, and 18 months for the theft. He must also pay court costs and restitution in the amount of $38,467.50.


Vincent E. Crim, 27, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced for Breaking and Entering, a fifth-degree felony, and Criminal Trespass, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 11 months and 30 days respectively and ordered to pay court costs.


Shane M. Simmons, 35, of Fredericktown was sentenced for Possession of Heroin, a felony of the fourth degree. EMS personnel found Simmons to be in possession of 30 “berries” of heroin after a traffic accident. Simmons was sentenced to 3 years of community control with 13 months in prison suspended. As part of his community control he must also submit to a drug and alcohol assessment, drug and alcohol use monitoring and maintain full-time employment.


Delilah C. Winstead, 62, of Danville, was sentenced for Theft by Deception, a first-degree misdemeanor. Winstead received payments to which she was not entitled from the Social Security Administration during the period of June 2011 until November 2014. She was given 180 days in jail suspended provided she does not commit a jailable offense within one year.
